WELCOME TO ILLS 2017!
After the two consensus meetings on Laparoscopic Liver Resection (Louisville 2008 and Morioka 2014), it is clear that this new approach has gained a specific place in the practice the Liver Surgery. Laparoscopic Liver Resection is not just another tool in the armamentarium of the Liver Surgeon, but a significant change requiring the acquisition of a totally new set of skills. Therefore, due its high and specific technical requirements, laparoscopic liver surgery deserves special attention and organization. A group involved in the field since its beginning (Daniel Cherqui, Nick O’Rourke, Go Wakabayashi, Olivier Soubrane, David Geller, Joseph Buell, Ho-Seong Han) decided to create the International Laparoscopic Liver Society (ILLS).
The missions of this association are:
- to organize a biannual congress dedicated to Laparoscopic Liver Resection
- to coordinate International Registries
- to provide a website serving as a forum supporting collaboration between surgeons interested in the advancement of Laparoscopic Liver Resection techniques
- to help in the education of surgeons wishing to learn these techniques.
We are happy to announce the First World Congress of ILLS that will take place in Paris on July 6-8, 2017. During 2.5 days, the most recent update on Laparoscopic Liver Surgery will be delivered. World experts will be present and deliver state of the art updates on indications, techniques and organization of Laparoscopic Liver Resection. At least as importantly, this will be a scientific meeting, where everyone is highly encouraged to send their most recent research and videos. Free papers, selected videos and posters will represent a large part of the congress.
We hope to welcome large delegations from all parts of the world to the first major event of ILLS. July is the best time to come to Paris and enjoy the City of Lights (after the sessions☺). Please come and send your best papers on Laparoscopic Liver Resection!
Warm regards,
Daniel Cherqui and Olivier Soubrane
