POST QUANTUM

CRYPTOGRAPHIE TRANSITION

The advent of a sufficiently powerful quantum computer will undermine the security of the public-key cryptography mechanisms currently used to secure our digital lives. The impacts will potentially be very serious: the possibility of eavesdropping on the most sensitive conversations or penetrating the most secure information systems. Furthermore, the possibility of retroactive attacks ("store now, decrypt later"), as well as the complexity and inevitable latency of a project to renew security equipment across an entire information system, require this risk to be considered today, even though quantum computers do not yet pose a threat.

ANSSI considers post-quantum cryptography to be the most promising way to protect against the quantum threat. A transition to PQC in France will last several years and will impact the entire digital ecosystem. To ensure the success of this transition, ANSSI considers it a priority to ensure the availability of trusted products integrating PQC in the short term. Furthermore, awareness of this transition among users (both private and public) is essential. The success of this transition is a collective responsibility of ecosystem stakeholders.

This session is organized by ANSSI and is intended to be a forum for technical experts, industry professionals, researchers, and institutions to discuss the challenges of the transition to PQC in France. It will be an opportunity to gain more information on ANSSI's guidelines for the transition to PQC, but above all, to share initial feedback from stakeholders (solution providers, users, and evaluation centers) on their ongoing work on this topic, in order to inspire participants, whether users or solution providers, to initiate their own transition. The morning session will conclude with the SGPI (French General Secretariat for Investment), which will highlight its actions supporting the transition to PQC.
